BARCELONA KEEN ON €90M CITY ATTACKER

Catalan giants Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling. This is according to the report from El Nacional which disclosed that Barcelona officials have acknowledgedSterling’s quality and they are keen on signing him.

The aforementioned media portal stated that Barcelona are not the only club monitoring the Sterling situation at the Etihad Stadium. Premier League side Arsenal are also interested in the England international who was the best player for his country at Euro 2020.

Sterling had a very good tournament for the Three Lions who could have won the tournament if they were successful with their penalties. Sterling and England lost out to Italy on penalties after the two countries scored a goal each at the end of 120 minutes. The Italians emerged victorious via a 3-2 win on penalties.

Gunners boss Arteta managed Sterling when he was the assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and he would like to take the former Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Liverpool forward to North London.

Sterling is down in the pecking order as far as the Manchester City attack is concerned with the arrival of compatriot Jack Grealish. Both Sterling and Grealish feature regularly in the England squad under Gareth Southgate.

Guardiola and Manchester City officials have pushed €90m-rated Sterling towards the exit door with the club-record £100m signing of Jack Grealish. England international Grealish is not only the club-record transfer fee recipient at Manchester City, he is also the recipient of the British transfer fee.

Manchester City paid the release clause in the Aston Villa contract of Grealish for them to be able to sign the player.

The abovementioned media outlet disclosed that Barcelona director Mathieu Alemany negotiated the transfer of Sterling in the summer, but nothing came out of the transfer interest on the part of the Catalans.
