Leon Osman speaks glowingly about Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Everton legend Leon Osman has spoken about the progress made by Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the past few years with the club. The Toffees graduate was offered with a regular centre-forward role during the backend of the previous campaign and he was particularly impressive with his hold-up and link-up play without finding the net on a regular basis.
In a report covered by TalkSPORT, Osman said that he has been pleased with the progress made by the young Englishman and believes he has improved massively with his all-round game. He added that the marksman only needs to improve on the goalscoring in order to become the perfect fit under head coach Marco Silva.
He said: “I think he’s done really well and is developing all the time. His all-round game has kicked on massively, in my opinion, in the last 18 months. If he can add a guaranteed 15-plus [goals], maybe getting close to 20-goals-a-season, then he could be the all-round package. But either way, he [Silva] needs a bit of reinforcement [and appears to have found that in Kean].”
Despite the positives from Calvert-Lewin’s previous campaign, the Toffees have once more struggled to find the net during pre-season where they have played out multiple goalless draws. As such, it seems a no-brainer to pursue another centre-forward and reports indicate that they are on the cusp of landing Moise Kean from the ranks of Juventus.
Similar to Calvert-Lewin, Kean is only at the beginning of his professional career but he has shown a lot more promise with the Serie A holders. The 19-year-old made his breakthrough with the Bianconeri last term where he managed seven goals from 17 appearances. Other than that, he has also made a mark with the Italy national team with two goals from just three caps under Roberto Mancini.
